“Our unity is our strength. Our Chancellor is our will. These two things no army of men, or of BattleMechs, can ever deny. Though we may die this day, or the next, first, last, and always remember this: we are Capellan.”
—Sang-jiang-jun Talon Zahn, CCAF Strategic Military Director, Capellan statewide address, 3072.

The Capellan Confederation – at a glance

The Capellan Confederation was founded in 2310 by Duke Fanco Liao of the Duchy of Liao from several major powers in the Capellan Zone, primarily in response to the growing military threat of the Federated Suns.
Like most great houses the Capellan Confederation was founded from many cultures and ethnicities but is primarily influenced by the Terran cultures of ancient China as well as Russia.
The Capellan people must earn their citizenship through community and professional service. Those who do not earn their citizenship form the Servitor class. The Capellan State is known for the hard work of its subjects and the willingness to put the state first in all matters. The Xin Sheng movement (or New Birth) was instituted in the 3050’s by Chancellor Sun-Tzu Lian to revitalise the Capellan State and bring a renewed sense of collective purpose and destiny after the losses of the Fourth Succession War.
The Capellan Confederation is ruled by a Chancellor, often called the “Celestial Wisdom”. While a role of great power, the Chancellor is answerable to the Perfectorate and governing body that controls the election of the Chancellor and must ratify all laws. Beneath them sits the House of Scions, a governing body consisting of the Capellan Nobility.
The Capellan military is known as the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces (or CCAF) and is under control of the Strategos. A unique and separate part of the Capellan military are the Warrior Houses, who take orders directly from the Chancellor and hold themselves to a higher set of martial values derived from the Lorix Creed. The Capellan’s have integrated one of the Inner Spheres premier mercenary units into the CCAF, McCarrorn’s Armored Cavalry, which after some recent turmoil is now under the command of the Chancellors “sister” Danai Centrella-Liao.
In 3151 the Capellan Confederation is on the rise – having taken back many of its ancestral holdings, it also pushed back the forces of the Federated Suns delivering a devastating blow to the Capellan March and the Hasek Family, capturing New Syrtis and executing Amanda Hasek. It currently enjoys good relations with the reformed Free Worlds League (with the exception of the Duchy of Andurien), and the Magistracy of Canopus (Once known as the Trinity Alliance, which ended in 3067 when the Taurian Concordat withdrew). In 3152 the Capellan military has retaken most of the worlds of the Republic of the Sphere’s Prefecture V and VI (reclaimed after they were forced to concede those worlds upon the Republics formation and after the Victoria Wars), but as it reached the planet of Northwind it was dealt a defeat by the Northwind Highlanders and the XII Hastati Sentinals, partly due to the treachery of the Draconis Combine Hikage… It is only a matter of time before the Capellan Confederation confronts the IlKhans reformed Star League on Terra.
Notable Units
These military units are the most ubiquitous and iconic found in the Capellan Confederation – although they also make use of many more generic designs. Capellan forces also share many units with the other members of the Trinity Alliance (Magistracy of Canopus and Taurian Concordat) and the Free Worlds League.

Notable Technology

In 3063 the Capellan Confederation developed Stealth Armour for BattleMechs, Combat Vehicles and Battle Armour as a rediscovered version of the LosTech Star League era Null Signature System (although still inferior to this technology). Requiring the use of an ECM suite (such as the Guardian ECM Suite), Stealth armour helps to masks the units signature and medium and long ranges. By 3075 this technology became widespread after being stolen by the Federated Suns.
The Capellan Confederation has always made great use of mines and a defensive and cheep technology. When the Fa Shih Battle Armour was developed in 3062, they were the first unit to be equipment with Battle Armour Mine Dispensers allowing the Battle Armour do deploy mines as they jumped.
Due to its alliance with the FWLM during Operation Guerrero in 3057, the CCAF obtained access to Semi-Guided LRM technology.
